How do I know if my boots are resole-able? And is it worth it?

Most boots can be resoled, but some are more difficult to do. If your boots have a welt (the sole sticks out from the boot and you should see stitching around the sole) then they are probably resolable. Typically, boots with Vibram soles, or ones that look like Vibram soles, can easily be repaired and it's usually worth the price. This type of boot will cost you more to begin with because they're made with higher priced materials. Boots that have direct-attatched/molded soles, like most light weight work, and hiking boots are technically not resolable, but our cobbler can do it. These types of boots need to have the soles ground off first and then a mid sole is added and the new sole is glued and stitched on.
